Hi,

I left a job after 12 years to work closer to home. Bad mistake as I have never liked it where I am and they are moving soon. I am part time btw. Been in new job 4 yrs.
Anyway, a full time position has come up at my old place and 2 managers have told me to apply. My children are older now and are well settled into full time school so may as well...money would be great.
I am lost as to who to ask for a reference...my old manager or current? Are you allowed to put the manager's name down who would be my manager once again if I was successful? My current manager hardly sees me as he is based elsewhere.

Your current manager, they will probably need to confirm your absence levels and if there have been any disciplinary issues during the last 4 years. You could use the old manager as a character/second reference.

Both. It's normal to provide two anyway and your current employer should always be one of them.
