Has anyone done this? i need some inspiration and motivation!!
I have been doing some research for months now, I have thought about franchising and other buisness ideas that could be started from home, to fit in with my family.

whats the pros and cons or any regrets??

All i would say is be careful with franchising, always seems a lot of money for a name, Ok when it is a big name.

And it can be difficult to remain motivated and focused.

Hope you find something to suit and that it does truly fit in with family.

Some of the franchises are alot cash (sometimes for not a lot in return) i can see the advantages of lots of support and using a branding, especially it not sure about the industry, but equally you can get tarnished with a bad reputation of say another branch of the franchise.

So far i keep getting lots of negative vibes from family about the loss of income, hardwork in getting something off the ground. This i am aware, and willing and capable to work at it and don't for a minute think its an easy option, but just fed up of working hard for someone else.

well, I don't know anything about franchising and all that - but I do work from home.

The pros are obvious, the cons are becoming evident now that I've been going 'properly' for about 6 months. Sometimes I'm swamped with work and find myself working every evening as well as during the day for a week at a time. I also end up doing bits of work when the children are around if I've got too much, which isn't good really. Sometimes it feels like it's taking over my life a bit too much and I wish I had an office that I could drive away from at the end of the day.

Hi B and s...I did the same thing when I had DSS (now 5 !) never looked back, though it can be hard juddling and try to fit everything in. I actually set up my own business (www.funkymamas.co.uk) after trying others..(phoenix trading type) there are lots of franchise type or "work from home" opps. out there that don't cost the earth and have a lower risk factor so depends what you want to achieve....when I looked into it my thought was the bigger the investment the bigger the risk, ie it could turn out really lucrative...or lose a fortune. Choices are direct selling (phoenix trading, virgin vie, captain tortue type lines) or activity (tumble tots, mini musiciancs, mad academy, music bugs, jo jingles)...or (best of all !) think up something yourself which you've enjoyed doing..... Good luck anyway in whatever you do..

Bagsandshoes I have been wanting to do just that for the longest while....and have sent off for a range of franchise info, training info, self employment stuff but nothing has materialised as yet. I really need to commit myself to something and stop dithering about as time is a passing!! I liked the look of usborne books am waiting for the info pack
