I work for a local government in London. We've fairly recently moved to an online HR system where we can book our annual leave online, and print off wage slips etc.
Yesterday I was talking with my manager about doing some overtime, and she wanted to know my hourly rate. (I'm salaried) So I have a look at my online HR account, and found my hourly rate. It had my correct grade listed, but incorrect scale (3) which I thought was a bit odd, so looked at the salary list to see if I could work out what was wrong. The hour rate listed on my HR account relates to my correct grade, and scale, but it's the hourly rate excluding London weighting.
Multiplying this non-London hourly rate by the hours I work in a year matches up with what's been on my P60 for the past 4 years. (so it's not been added on separately elsewhere) And obviously it doesn't match the pro rata of what my FTE salary should be with London weighting.
My manager looked at her hourly rate on her HR account and hers does include London weighting. She's on a completely different salary grading, but if hers includes London weighting so should mine?
Anyway, I've emailed all the figures to HR to ask for clarification. But what happens if I've been underpaid for the past 4 years? (Could be more, but I've had a pay freeze for 4 years and it's the past 4 years I've been on this non London weighting rate. Don't know what the rate should be before then so can't comment)
I work very part time so it's only about £50 a month difference, which is why I've not noticed this before.
you should get it back. my work place put me on the higher tax rate for 6 years & I got a nice check back from the tax man! Just in time to replace my windows which were past its best before date. Speak to finance & HR.
