What skills did you gain from your previous job that would be useful:-
People management, ability to prioritise etc.
What skills do you bring from being a mum? Behaviour management etc.

They might ask how you would deal with certain situations; fight, injured child, bullying, etc.
Make it clear in your answers that you would follow the SCHOOL'S POLICY. They will probably have ahandbook that you will, of course, study at length. You would also seek advice from other staff, and use common sense. Good luck!

Hi - I am a midday supervisor - I was asked mainly about previous experience with kids - mine was only with my own, with a few questions about ability to do the job - ours requires putting up and down tables and cleaning the floor as well as pupil supervision.

Then I was asked what games I would try to get going to get shy children involved. Bouncing a ball, skipping with a long line etc..... whether I had first aid experience or was willing to train. Also were told that we had to be in on the odd inset day for training in things like epipen usage, fire safety etc.

Final question was the biggy - what is employing YOU going to gain the school - usual stuff about being a hard worker, willing to go the extra mile, not a clock watcher etc......

Hope it helps - and GOOD luck - remember, they want to see YOU, so you're already almost there!

hi guys thanks very much for your replies, i had no Internet for over a week due to changing supplier, so i am relieved that it is back on now so i can do some more research and check on here for more advice from you wonderful guys out there. Well my interview is on this Thursday and i am so nervous, there are six of us going for interviews and i have been told to arrive 20 mins early, as i will be given a list of 6 questions to look over before hand, i have also heard that i will be interviewed by a panel of five Shock including head and deputy, two governors and the head lunchtime supervisor. My one and only interview was when i was 17 nearly 30 years ago, so i am naturally very very nervous, any more advice would be gratefully received.

ha ha PBTip i wish, i was really shocked when i found out the procedures involved after i applied, i guess its new rules and regulations for child safety, i have been told that if a child were about to fall that i would have to let it happen rather than try to stop it total madness in my view.

My interview for the job was with the Deputy Head and the SChool Business Manager.

They asked :-

Why I wanted to work in school.

What I thought the job involved - I sade safeguarding the childrenn, cleaning up tables and floors in hall over lunch, helping the kids with their food. also cleaning up sick (yuck but yes part of our job), and keeping an eye on any playground issues.

How I would deal with the confidentiality issues that may arise with friends wanting to talk about issues.

What I would bring to the job.

How I thought my previous experiences would help me.

The interview was actually ok, I talked... a lot. Blush

I started last Novememver and am still learning...but over all it's great fun.

Hi everyone. I wanna thank you all on this platform. I have just been to my kids school for the Midday Supervisory Assistant position this morning at 9:20am. Yesterday I came across this site and believe me, if that hadn't happened, If I didn't find this site, I don't know what I would have done. But thank God I did, and by his grace, I got the job, same day. They said, "I blew them away " 🙂🙏. Once again, thank you all.
