Im staying with my Mum in Ohio. Since she divorced my dad, she has been up in the air and she won't calm down. She cleans the apartment at 11pm to 1am. I pack my kids off to bed, I try to calm my mum down. She goes to bed and I sit in her room while she dozes off.
Any ideas as to why she is so energetic??

How long ago was the divorce?

Is it possible that it's triggered some MH issues? It's possible to have a manic phase as a one off 'thing' in times of severe stress/anxiety without actually being bipolar.

Could equally just be that she's struggling sleeping and would rather be active than tossing & turning.

Has she confided in you at all about how she is feeling generally?

Is she perfectly healthy? Is this behaviour started after right after she got divorced? I can explain you a situation. It goes like this:

Your mom got divorced and she was so stressed out thinking about raising her kids alone. She had hecks of things to do and had no time to spare. She started to multi task to finish all her job. But now she got habituated to that. Compared to those days, now she don’t have much responsibilities or tasks to do. So she is releasing out all her energy by becoming a cleaning freak.

But don’t allow her to work too much at this age if her health condition is weak.
I have installed a senior citizen alarm for my elderly parents at home .You could buy a similar one for her. This is very useful to contact you in case of any medical emergency. This product literally saved my father's life. He had a minor heart attack.Check for other similar quality products if this brand is not available near your locality.

Ask to relax. Yoga or meditation might help her to release her stress.
I can’t give you a clear advice as you have not provide a clear picture of your mother’s condition. Hope this helps you!
