How often to visit ailing parents overseas ?

3 or 4 trips a year to support elderly parents doesn't seem unreasonable.

Thats a really difficlt one, and i don't think there is a one size fits all answer.

The fact that there are other siblings nearby hopefully means he can get away with less visits, but that doesn't reduce the fact he may WANT to see his parents.

But then its really hard cash wise on the rest of the family if you go without.

I don't think there is an easy answer to that one.

FWIW, My Mum saw her father once a year, max, but that was a long haul flight away, and he had walked out of the family home when she was 5. My MiL sees her mother every 3 years. They cannot afford the flight or the time off from the business. My views will be warped!
