Food history lessons

I know a food historian who is considering going into schools to give lessons using food to talk about social history, etc. It's a really good way to get children interested in what life was like. She's been in before and the lessons are always very well received (by children and teachers), but would love more ideas about what would fit in with the different key stages/topics.

Can anyone help? She's done Egyptians, World War 2 and Romans, among other topics (but I can't remember which exactly!).
