Anyone watching this right now? Been flicking and there is a new school on there. All open plan. Light and airy. Looks great. No idea if it has helped the school (was one of the worst ina rea) but looks great.

Oh, there you go. It is now in the top 25% of schools. But doesn't go into why.

"The Business Academy in Bexley, another Foster and Partners work, is cited as an example of how a building can have an impact on people's lives.

Before its regeneration, the school had among the worst GCSE results in the country. But since its relaunch, and in its new environment, performance has soared, and this year its pass rate had jumped by 18 times. "

It's by Foster and Partners apparantly???

The business academy in Bexley got an awful ofsted report. Apparently the school is challenging it. All the year 6 parents I know in our area - bexley/greenwich boroughs are avoiding putting the school on their list of 6 choices. Another school nearby - the Woolwich Polytechic - had a much better ofsted report and is one of the top 300 value added schools in the country.

The classrooms apparently have no doors, so children could wander in and out....hmmmm.

The classrooms don't have walls as such - just half height clear ones, overlooking the main building. Not sure if the nnoise factor would be a problem though. I think the idea is you, as a teacher, are supposed to make your lessons so stimulating that pupils face the front, not the corridors. Knowing sme of my classes, half the kids would be hanging over the walls or throwing stuff over - thinking of a very particular Y9 class here!
