...and very proud of my darling DS1. I know this is showing off but I'm just bursting with this.

Those of you who have been kind enough to help me and listen to my problems with DS settling in at school (and their horrible discipline tactics) will understand how amazed, proud and tearful I was on Friday when he came home with the Special Award for the week!!!!! He got a certificate and a round of appluase in Assembly for being a superstar all week. He tried so hard to be good this week and he really really deserved it. He was absolutely glowing when he came out of school. He got a big treat for his supper on Friday, scotch pancakes with chocolate spread - his all time favourite food which he hasn't had for over a year because of food intolerances (chocolate and eggs affecting behaviour), so he knew how proud we were of him!!!

He made me cry again tonight. We were talking about it when he was settling down to sleep and he said 'I hoped and hoped it would be me this week Mummy - and it was!!!'. Bless his litte heart he is desperate to be seen as a good boy.

Dead right to show off !

That is fab news, I'm bubbling just from reading your message.

I never got round to thanking you for your additives list but it has helped a number of friends and their children.

Well done your ds1!

What a fantastic start to his new school year.

And his reaction just proves how for him, as for most children, positive praise is so much better as a motivator than negativity and the dreadful public humiliation he went through last year.

Gulp, I shed a tear when I read this; your son sounds like such a wee star! Well done!

Don't forget to print out this thread to show him in years to come.
