How to prepare for Sutton interview and Wimbledon group assesments

Hi, My dd is sitting for her Sutton high 11+ entrance on the 18th of November. Can anyone advice on their interview process please? Is it more about the candidate or general knowledge?
We have registered for Wimbledon High as well and I know they have a group assessment instead of interviews. Does anyone know what sort group activities they do?

Appreciate any help on this.

DD did Wimbledon. I know there was a passage (maybe a poem) that was read out and discussed. Try and make sure your DD understands that she'll need to speak up but not speak over others.

We didn't do Sutton but I'd definitely recommend some gentle interview practice. The questions won't be hard as the main objective is to get the girls to talk. Run through the obvious ones like 'why this school' 'what are you doing this weekend'. You might also have a chat about current affairs so she can answer a question about things that have happened recently.

DD got asked a question about who she would invite to have dinner with her. We'd practiced a question about favourite historical character (Emily Davidson) so she used her as her 'guest.

No need to go overboard though. A couple of chats in the car or over supper should suffice.

Good luck.

Thank you sandybayley for your response. Very helpful information to start preparing her.

Schools often finish by asking the pupils if they have any questions. It is a good idea to have one lined up. Examples could include, 'How does the House system work' or something to do with the library.

Don't be afraid of them giving genuine answers but try and avoid pre-prepared stock answers that are clearly just trying to make them look clever.

My DD did the WHS group assessment last year. They did the passage and questions. Then some other questions like: is a room bigger when you open the window? is a donkey a vehicle? if a cat catches and eats a mouse is it a murderer? Obviously they are trying to get the girls talking and they are questions you can't prep for. But might be worth warning you DD that they may ask those sorts of questions and not to be thrown by it.
good luck
