My DS has already started his GCSEs in year 9, we are looking at moving to another part of the country, still in England, and was wondering what the impact of this will be. Obviously it will be different exam boards? What happens if they don't offer his choices? Move not likely until February or later. Thanks

You probably know already it's not ideal timing - yes, there is high risk of different exam boards. Also possibly not able to take same options.

If it's essential then try to join school where GCSE options start in year 10 so your DC gets to do full course and move as soon as possible?

Good luck!

Thanks, move can't happen until we sell so it's dependent on that. If we waited until he's finished his GCSEs then his brother will be doing his.

The current school seems to be starting early. I don't envisage a problem as long as DC1 in in the new school for Y10 or not long after it starts.

He'll be starting a new school in year 9? Most school don't start the GCSE courses until year 10 so don't worry too much. Also many Public schools start in year 9 and some might have moved so if you'd ever considered it or if he has a particular talent- sports music drama
or academic- you could investigate that too.
