Private Secondary for bright, sporty dyslexic boy

Hi
Can anyone recommend a school that would suit a fairly bright, sporty dyslexic boy, for year 9 entry? Preferably with good CCF and within a 2 hour radius of Windsor? Could be day or boarding, single sex or co-ed. Any and all input appreciated, thanks.

How bright is 'bright'?

You could try Dulwich College (you can part boad if the journey is a bit daunting)

Or Whitgift or Trinity if the journey to Croydon would work.

Hi another newt....he has a
high IQ but poor memory, good literacy ( age ten with reading age of 13 and spelling age of 12 and a half) , v weak maths.

Hampton is supposed to have a good learning support dept. Very sporty , but very strong academic school

Polista it would be worth looking at the destination schools of leavers from Bruern Abbey to get some ideas. If his maths is poor then that would exclude some of the more selective ones which want all round ability.

Bloxham school in Oxfordshire. Small, nurturing co-ed boarding school with "punching above it's weight" sports and good pastoral/academic support. All have opportunity to follow Dof E and CCF.
Headmaster also hot on academics so kids carefully monitored and assisted to get the best out of their non-selective input. But teaching is interactive and personal.

My dyslexic son went to Pangbourne which fits your geography and sounds like my son and yours are similar. He loved it and did well there but obviously schools change and he's grown up now.

In the area we also looked at Shiplake and Bloxham. When you're looking ask searching questions as we found some schools proclaimed knowledge of dyslexia but were just jumping on a bandwagon to be attractive. Ask what provision there is for one to one and what provision for exam conditions. What % of children are dyslexic? Too high we knew our son would do no work as others would do worse (laziness and dyslexia are not mutually exclusive!) too few they wouldn't understand. We made a chart of our child and marked schools l
out of 10 for things that mattered. Travel, dyslexia, sport, creativity and the choice came easier.
