NUT asking for Nicky Morgan to step down

I woke up to this (apologies, I don't know how to do clicky links):

www.teachers.org.uk/news-events/press-releases-england/nut-calls-nicky-morgans-resignation

The only news website I've been able to find it on is the DF and I'm not going to link to it.

'Astonishing attack on Nicky Morgan...' and a quote from a Mumsnet user saying parents should stop whinging because these new SATs are doing what she wants them to, which is raise standards. (Guess they haven't seen the other squillion threads and users saying the opposite?)

I hope it happens, for my children's sake.

I eventually received my DD's results yesterday (her fault, not the schools). She has failed 2 one of which is English reading. I know her reading age is well above her chronological age. I've just told her not to worry etc. Please don't attack Nicky Morgan any further, she might get itchy feet and jump into the leadership bun fight.

To be honest you might feel your daughter has failed but she has not failed the english reading test, it simply means that on this particular test she did not achieve as well as the average did. It is also more or less universally agreed that the reading test was the hardest of all the tests.

In terms of Mrs Morgan I have to say that the NUT are naive if they believe replacing her will make any difference. It will not and you will just get another clone who will have the same basic philosophies. The basic philosophy is sound, children should learn more and be able to do more things than they do now - it is how they get there that is the issue. The NUT version appears to be do nothing to improve learning and have no testing at all, which is never going to be acceptable.
