Told my 5yo that babybels are "rubbish cheese"! OK, admit I'm not too sure of the health content - thought they were like edam cheese, ie; ok. Not as bad as cheese strings. But what the hell is she doing saying this to DD,

Her packup is a ham roll, babybel, mix of selection of pepper, cucumber, blueberries, strawberries, mangetout, little corn on the cobs. Pudding is a custard pot. She NEVER takes in crisps, biscuits, cakes, etc.

So I think she eats very healthily - far better than the awful school dinners. I'm quite mad about this!

Does seem a little OTT. Are the school dinners really all non-processed? And if not then what do they say to all those on school dinners?

Don't worry - there are a fair number of nutty dinner ladies out there. I took DS3 to a party at the weekend, only to be cornered by a dinner lady (her DS was another party guest) who went on and on about how little of the school dinners my son ate, even after I'd told her he seemed perfectly healthy and I really wasn't worried.

Babybels are chunks of Bel Paese in their own individual wax covering - nothing wrong with them unless you eat the wax

The school dinners are awful at this school. Hotdogs and onions, chips and sauages and beans. The xmas dinner they had - the "turkey" was out a tin!!!!

We've reluctantl bowed to the pressure form DS2 ( age 6) to have school dinners becuase all his friends do now, so if he had packed lunch he would have to sit with the girls...
Luckily DS1 sticvking with packed lunch ( ham salad bap, mixed fresh fruit, dried apricots BABYBEL CHEESE, 9 luckily school insists no sweets or choc so it is only the school dinner kids who eat puddings...
Am now topping up DS2 fruit & veg + decent protein for evening meal.
