Year 1 phonics screening test

I am aware of the year 1 phonics screening test coming up, is there anything I can do to help my DC pass? What are the sort of questions?

Read with them and practice sounds and blending. That's all there really is to it.

We have been doing plenty of reading throughout the school year and it has really shown

You'll be fine then! There will be some blends that don't make real words - e.g. 'Nodge' - Alien Words they often call the them...

Make sure you encourage sounding out of words, not guessing.

Make sure your DC is aware they don't know every word in the English language yet so they may come across words that they don't recognise when they sound them out.
