Wycombe Abbey -- Emergency :)

Hello everyone, My name is Kerel, I am a mother of three (two daughters and one son), I am new to mumsnet so nice to meet you all ;)

Currently, I am considering to get one of my DD to Wycombe Abbey for Sixth Form and apparently it is very hard and difficult to get in because firstly she has to have an interview and pass the general english exam, and if she is able to succeed, then she has to complete the Sixth Form Entrance Exams which is highly highly competitive. My DD is quite confident, loud (oops) outgoing and sociable, her academic results are not bad as well, her worst grade is a B.

So i just want to know all the info about the school (Impression, personal experience, others experience, etc. Anything will do :) Because these will really help me make up my mind and clear the worries of my DD. Also, I am quite concerned about the interview and the english exam, is there anything my DD can prepare for and is the interview conversation-like or exam-like?

Thank you very much. Have a nice day.

Kerel

Hi Kerel!
When I saw the heading ‘Wycombe Abbey -- Emergency’, I thought the school has been swallowed up by the ground!

Only to find you are just considering to send your DD there. In that case, there’s absolutely no emergency at all. Wycombe Abbey is one of the UK’s premier and finest schools for girls. I’m afraid I can’t help you on their entrance test or interview etc. but I can tell you if your DD manages to get in there, it would be absolutely fantastic. Good luck!

Which year of entry are you after? I would expect the dates to apply/sit exams for entry in Sept 2016 are long gone. If it is 2017 there is no hurry, it is certainly not an emergency.

It is very competitive but if your daughter is the right fit for the school, she will get an offer. The pre-assessment day is not what you can really prepare for, but they are looking for girls who work hard and work well under pressure.
