DD, 10, has just taken Grade 2 Violin. She plays reasonably well so I am confident she will have passed. She loves to play, in particular in her school bands (she is in two). She does, however, find the traditional stuff wheeled out for the exam syllabus and by her fairly staid teacher in between exams a bit unexciting (and the teacher is lovely, but has a reputation for being a bit stuck in her ways).
I would like to approach the teacher slightly pre-armed to head off the dull stuff I expect will be suggested - Ceilidh or similar I think would be fun, as she loves the Ceilidh band at school. If she plays something enjoyable she will try so much harder and get more out of it!
Can anyone suggest a suitable book that is likely to be fun, but equally will satisfy the violin teacher that she is continuing to learn and progress?
TIA
