Black History Month

My DC1 is in Y7 at a good school. This is my first experience in secondary education system. I've just received a text to say all day next week, the school will be showing a Black History Month related film after school and that our children would need written permission to stay in school to watch.

Would it be wrong of me to query why the films are being shown after school? It seems a bit of an afterthought and I worry that many children won't have the opportunity to watch since they have either clubs to go to or school buses to catch (you'll have to make your way home).

Thank you.
