Hello,

Looking for information about girls or co ed schools you think are good in richmond / barnes areas. Daughter is mildly dyslexic but a very motivated learner.

Love to hear your ideas

Independent or state maintained?

HI independent or state. We currently in independent, does it affect the chance on an independant secondary?

Seen you on a thread before and think you are already in the area. If you want an independent secondary, don't move out of the system to a state school as in all likelihood, you will need a tutor. There are several independent options - are you unhappy with the current school? What are you looking for?

I think all the maintained primary schools in the area are pretty good, Richmond comes consistently at or near the top of the primary school league tables.

Ibstock Place is pretty good for dyslexia and has goes right through to 18.

Ibstock used to be the place for dyslexia but not any more. It is on a mission to become a top academic school and I would avoid it if there are any type of learning issues.

thanks all. Yes Ibstock is trying to change its name I think, though I hear the head is changing

I just think our current private could be better and wonder if it might be better to be in school locally and spend the fees on tutors instead.

It could be worth looking at St Catherine's. It's not a specialist school but I've heard it's very nurturing.
