Mixing school and 6th form college.

I'm looking for some advice.

DD, with one week left until she's meant to begin sixth form has decided that she'd like to take one A Level in sixth form college and the others in school (neither offers all three of the subjects she wants to study, so a combination seems sensible). Our problem is the lack of anyone at the school to discuss this with before her starting date as there's no one there.

I don't know for sure that she'll get a place in college (as we're hoping for a place on the open enrolement day next tuesday). But if they offer a place I don't know how school will react/accept that she'll need to be released for the college course twice a week. I've compared the A level columns (which are according to college compatible), but the school's timetable doesn't mention times.

Does anyone have any advice on how to move forward without school's go ahead?

Many thanks

Sorry...the school's columns don't show times.

she is highly unlikely to get funding from either to do that : they get their money from different sources

Neither would let her - she has to be registered full time at either school or college I'm afraid.

Oh balls! I didn't think of that as a problem.

The college website states this...

"From the academic year 2015-16 all of our A Level courses will be follow the same time table as the Cardiff Schools. This gives you the option to remain at your current school and also study one or more A Levels here at college at the same time."

I had assumed that this meant that she could study at both. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

Thanks for your input :)

Ah, OK, you are in Wales.
Funding is different there.
You need to speak to both and see how they handle their registrations and funding

I'm hoping that the college will know as I can't get hold of anyone at the school. I wonder if the council could provide me with the information.

Sounds possible, but totally different from anything I know about - it wouldn't be possible here as their timetables are all individual.
