Kendrick Girls school catchment question

If you live outside catchment, would it be pointless taking the test in the hope of getting a place? Would like to know if anyone outside catchment managed to get in since the catchment was reduced a while back. Thanks.

I don't think anyone from outside catchment got an offer this year.

Thanks Patricia for the response! Don't think I'll bother have my dc sit the test in that case. Seems a lot of stress for the slimmest of chances...

How wide is the catchment area there nowadays out of interest?

The actual catchment for Kendrick ie: where the children have actually come from rather than some generic circle is available here: www.goodschoolsguide.co.uk/schools/102944/kendrick-school

Catchment areas can and do change. Living in catchment one year does not guarantee admission to a school in future years. Always check with the school's own admissions authority for the current admissions criteria. Admissions criteria may include, but is not exclusive to: siblings, faith, ability, distance from school, SEN. - See more at: www.goodschoolsguide.co.uk/about/catchment-maps-explained

Three years data up to school year 2013/2014. 2014/2015 isn't currently available until after the school year finishes.

For yr 7 entry in 2014, 776 sat the test and 321 applied on their CAF. Don't know how many of those were in catchment, but there are only 96 places per year. I don't think anyone out of catchment has got a place in recent years.

The current catchment is roughly up to 15 miles, depending on the postcode. Details and list of the postcodes are here for 2016 entry.
