Hi everyone,
I am a mumsnet newbie so please go easy on me :P For my final year media project for my Media degree I am researching into childhood ambition and how the media impacts on this. Recent studies have suggested that the number of kids wanting to become doctors has been taken over by the number of kids wanting to become celebrities instead. Subsequently some researchers believe that this is affecting children's attitudes towards education and work ethic, kids obsessing over make up rather than exams etc. I'm not a mum myself, so I was interested in getting some real answers so I don't end up making some thing based around some lies in the media. I'd be so grateful if any of you could let me know what you think about this research in terms of your own children, and do you think that celebrity culture does have an impact on what your own child/children want to do?
Thank you so much for reading this

This is what the telegraph claims are the top choices (2014)

1.
