I cried in the Headmistress's office

Today was DD's first day at school.

I took her to her old nursery first as the wanted to see her in her school uniform. We then walked round to her school in time for her starting time of 9.50am.

We went in to the head's office to complete the paperwork. DD was brilliant and told the head her full name my name and her daddy's name, and also our address. the head then asked Lauren to tell her or any of the grown ups at school if asny problems arose, She then turned to me and said "if you have any problems either mum". That did it, I cried.

I had promised myself that I was not going to do that, but I just couldn't help myself.

We then went down to DD's classroom, she found her peg on the way and put her bag on it. Her teacher gave her a name badge and introduced her to the teaching assistant. I also met the new Deputy head who is getting to know erveyone as he just started on Monday. DD's teacher said that they would have PE in the agternoon. I had forgotten her PE bag, so had to take it back later on my way into town When I took it down they were in the playground and DD was playing with her friend from nursery that is in the other class.

She seems to be really enjoying it. I have bought her a little pressie for when she comes home.

Sorry it is so long and thanks for reading.

Ahhhh MB I hope you're feeling ok now. I've got to do this in a couple of weeks and am not looking forward to it in some ways but am in others (my dd is so keen to learn new stuff). It sounds like your dd is in a kind and thoughtful environment.

Realy feel for you MB.

I was just the same with both my DDs but didn't have to pass through the Heads office thank god.

I cried on leaving both of them. I could cry on the first day of each school year still but manage to hold it in.

I had a huge lump in my throat when DD1 (age 10) went on her first residential overnighter last year in Yr 5. Next year when she starts secondary I will probably stay in bed that day. I'm sure she doesn't want me blubbering anywhere near her.

Fimbo - our house is opposite the school and I cried when I saw DD go past on a coach to go swimming!

It's such a big day MB, don't feel soft, brought a lump to my throat

Thank you everyone,

She finishes at 3.20pm today, so I will be leaving the house about 3pm to get her. She starts tomorrow morning at 8.50am.

Oh MB I totally know where you are coming from. I felt a bit weepy on Tuesday and it wasn't even anyone's first day lol. In fact I wasn't even there!

DD sounds fine and dandy. Head sweet too.

What will I be like next week, when DS2 starts nursery school [sniffle emoticon]?

It doesn't get any better. I felt weepy and wobbly on DS1's first day of Year 7 last week. Secondary school ... big boy school...(grabs the hankies).

Oh this is the thread I should be on, I started one called My baby started Year 5 today and no-one responded!

Here are all the women I should be talking to

Thing is, she went off with her friends into her new class and didn't kiss me goodbye (for the first time ever)

I spied through the door at her new form teacher, a glamorous young (well much younger than me) French woman
