anyone with a child about to start A levels, please....

...can you make sre that they pick subjects that they like and want to work at.

I have at least one student this year who spent the last 2 years being bored, avoiding work and acting as it was a personal insult when asked to work.

I arrive today and find that this student has chosen to continue with the subject. Why? Other than to annoy me....... mutter

Do you get the option of booting him off the course if he doesn't do the work at A-Level?

No because the schools/6th form colleges are desperate for funding which they get per student so they let students stay on....Then the students fail (because they hate the subject) and you get told off for not getting them through.....moan moan

It would be lovely if all students were doing what they liked. DS1 chose his AS Levels by process of elimination - dropping those subjects he disliked most and sticking with those that would be most likely to guarantee him A grades!
Martianbishop - perhaps your student behaved even worse in subjects he has now dropped?
