Homework featuring poor use of language

When we look at the children's literacy homework, we often find we are asked about the grammar and punctuation of sentences and paragraphs that are themselves examples of very poor writing.

I appreciate this may seem unfair on teachers. However, those who prepare the resources from which teachers draw don't seem to be under any pressure to write well.

I could pull out a few clunking examples from my year 6 son's Easter homework.

I wonder whether people manufacture awful examples because they believe they can't use great writers' great sentences in their resources (because these are commercial products).

Does anyone know what I am talking about?

Yes. I'd just assumed the teacher was tired and didn't check their own work! I just use it as an example of where it can be improved and tell DC that everyone needs to check their work. Grin
