We are considering moving somewhere near Maidenhead. We like the look of the schools mentioned above. We would appreciate opinions/comments . Our DS is quite sporty (especially takes an interest in football, cricket and rugby) and we want him in an all boys school that has boarding (don't mind whether the boarding is optional or compulsory)

Thanks Smile

Sorry - I only know them as places that play those sports against schools I do know!

But I'm quite sure that others could give you specific advice.

Hi Englander, they are all good schools and I would suggest you go and have a look at your favourites to get a feel of where would work best for your son. Our boys are at Sunningdale and we really cannot speak highly enough of it, they are very happy there and enjoy playing sport everyday. They play games against the other schools you have mentioned so the differences will probably come down to academics, facilities and the boarding element.

Thanks edithjones, we are going to look at our favourites and we do like the look of Sunningdale, lots of positive comments about it.

I agree with Edith Jones - you have a good list to work from. Beyond that I guess it is personal taste. We have a son at Papplewick and he loves it. Me too: there is something so charming about the school. The headmaster seems to have a very positive and motivated team and it reflects on the happiness of the boys. I know that some find boarding hard to contemplate (it's compulsory at Papplewick in the final two years) but I think it will be an amazing experience and my boy is looking forward to it already even though it's a few years out.

There are lots of mini buses from Chiswick & Brook Green taking boys to Caldicott, possibly 3 from each now. I know there is also a bus from Chiswick to Papplewick. This means although you might live near the school your son could end up with friends who live miles away.
