Schools advice needed for Kingston upon Thames

Hi,
I'm moving from Edinburgh this month and I'm trying to find a school for my daughter who will go into year 10. Tiffin is full, LEH is full, Kingston Grammar is full. She is currently at Edinburgh Academy so I would like to keep her in the independent or outstanding school sector. Any suggestions or views on Surbiton high would be appreciated. Are there any Surbiton high mums out there? Are there any other schools I have not listed and perhaps don't know about. I don't want her to travel too far either. Thanks in advance
Harriet

Surbiton is not as selective as LEH or KGS but it is a good school and any difference in results is down to selection not the teaching or facilities. Several of DDs' peers have done well and been happy there. It is often the good solution for those moving about and I know of several girls who have settled well there after a move. Good reputation for pastoral care. Wimbledon High also easily accessible from Kingston and also a good school. My DD also sat for St George's Weybridge who run buses everywhere. They have similar results but Catholic (though inclusive) and co ed if that appeals.

In the state sector the top sets at Coombe Girls' get similar results to Tiffin, without the pressure cooker feel.

Not sure where you are in Kingston exactly, but have you considered Radnor House in Twickenham? We've just done a similar move, and DD1 starts there in September. It's fairly new, so no track record, but an Outstanding Ofsted, and a lovely feel.

Have you checked out Waldegrave School for Girls in Teddington? Excellent reputation.

Orleans Park School?

Yes my daughter is at Surbiton: happy and thriving and I would second what Shootingatpigeons says ...

Grey Court is an outstanding state school and last year its results were as good at Coombe girls and still getting better. It takes a lot of children from Kingston and now has a sixth form.

I would highly recommend Surbiton - great teaching and really good pastoral care - my DD loves it and is thriving too .

My DD1 goes to Surbiton and it's a great school. They get very good results and I don't think they are full. My DD2 is starting at Sutton High School in September for Year 8 and when we looked round it seemed like a very friendly school. They also get very good results, fairly similar to Surbiton I think. It isn't as local to Kingston as Surbiton is but you can easily take public transport there. In a way, it's sort of like a smaller version of Surbiton. There is also Wimbledon High and Putney High which are both very academic schools, more so than Surbiton and Sutton.
