The main thing I would like to know is, how can you contact/find other families that are home educating in and around your area? Any advice/opinion regarding home education will be greatly accepted though!!

i think there's a group called 'education otherwise' that's run by home educating parents.

EO is good, there is a yahoo group associated with it that is a good way to ask questions.

Also MuddlePuddle (google the name) is good for up to 8s. There is a good, active yahoo group for that also.

Unless you're somewhere really remote there will be families a car drive away, at most. You probably have a local email list, you just might have to dig it out. Post intros on MuddlePuddle/the eo group if need be and someone will probably direct you the right way.

I think whether or not to HE is a deeply personal decision. You will get loads of people saying it is a bad idea, usually becuase of a. socialisation and b. worries about whether you can provide a good enough education if you are not a teacher. You'll need to find your own path.

I don't know if you've done much reading. I'd reccomend John Holt, esp "Teach Your Own" (as a starter, but I am the world's biggest John Holt fan), Gareth Lewis One to One, and Homeschooling: the Early Years by Linda Dobson.

I think its exciting and fun. Its also bloody tiring.

Oh, so you know, there are lots of camps for HE kids, so you can go and meet others and chat. HESFES is the big one, I think.

we plan to he but eldest is not yet 3. (doesn't stop lea wanting to know which school he's going to though, ffs)
