Schoolbag thrown out of the window

this happened to my eldest yesterday (secondary school) and she lost a pen and pencil as a result. Fortunately they were very cheap items. Hers was not the only bag thrown out and a blazer was also thrown out. Several others were thrown around the classroom but stayed inside. Teacher went into classroom (lunchtime) and sent all the children outside but I suspect they didn't realise about the bags/blazer. My inclination is not to say anything as it may make things worse - what would you do?

I suppose I might hold off, and see if it's a one-off. If not, I think somebody ought to say something. By secondary school shouldn't they be able to speak up for themselves on this kind of thing?

Could it be that the reason why they don't speak up for themselves is that they understand the subtleties of the situation better than us parents? Unless there were something very seriously amiss (repeated bad behaviour going unchecked, expensive item broken or physical injury) I'd only talk to the school about such an issue if my children wanted me to.

apparently there is one boy who is very disruptive. My own view is that they need to sit on bad behaviour very quickly. The kids have only been at this school since September and mine is not at all assertive. However I think I'll wait and see if its repeated, unless I see the head at a PA meeting, then I might be tempted....
