Can't decide whether to start dd at pre-school nursery - please help!

Briefly - dd (3 and 4 months) currently at a lovely little playgroup 3 mornings a week, she is very happy there. We are in process of selling our place and leaving London but our chain is shaky atm. Local school rang today to say they had morning place for dd from next week. It's a good school for the area but not really a school I want her to go to (hence the move). SO, do we take the place for the time being and take her out of playgroup (in case our sale falls through and we are stuck here) OR keep her in playgroup for now and cross fingers we move???? Sorry, long and doddery post... Thanks for reading.

If this sale falls through, would you still try and move? how long can she stay at the playgroup (Whats their upper age limit?)
My feeling is to keep her at the playgroup. If you move her to the nursery, then move thats a lot of upheavel. If you don't move now but are likely to keep trying then she'll move eventually. Hope that makes sense. Thats what I'd do anyway (I think!)

I'd probably keep her in playgroup as she is happy there and a move might be stressful enough for her without changing nursery/pre school. Let the preschool know you are still interested and ask if they can defer the place? Would you still eb lookign to move if your sale falls through?

Surely even if your chain is shaky (and they always are tbh) you will still want to move? If so, then keep her at playgroup. I think new school quickly followed by house move and another new school is just too much change for a small person.

thanks, Posey - the playgroup takes children up to 5 years old.
yes, if this sale falls through we will go back on market - just would like her to start nursery school maybe next Easter...if I decline the place now and we are still here I suppose she won;t be considered.

the other thing about the school is that her best friend goes there and dd would love to be with her.

thanks so much for your posts - dh and I decided to keep dd at playgroup for now as she really is very happy there and 3 mornings a week seems just right for her atm.

if I don't take the nursery place, it doesn't mean she wouldn't get reception placenext Sept, does it?

Generally not - nursery and reception are separate applications and judged independently (at least they are at DSs school)
