using library pics

I don't think you're actually allowed, need premission from the photographer etc but i know alot that do and no-one seems to pick up on it.
I'd be interested to know if it does make a difference to selling price as i always take pics but my friends don't and can't decide which is best.

i would always go for one with an actual picture rather than a "library" one because they you see what you're really getting.

you can use generic pictures but you aren't supposed to copy other people's pictures. It is a real bug bear of mine and I politely request that people don't use my photos. Generally if you make people aware of the rules they change the picture.
One guy insisted it was okay cos he'd found my photo on google image (although it clearly stated that the source was ebay and was therefore my photo.)
I have taken to watermarking but it's a PITA
I personally find for brand new items then a library image/generic image taken from the company website for example is fine but often others have done the same so your listing doesn't stand out in the same way as an individual picture does.
I think for used items like the Zapp you describe then most buyers prefer to see what they are getting. Then they can see any scratches/scuffs for themselves.
