sending something back for a refund - do I sent before or after refund?

I bought a dress, it has a stain on it, seller is apologetic and is going to refund me - says send it back and she will do so. Is that right? I was wondering if I should get the monehy and then send it or does that sound okay to you? I've no reason not to trust her, she has been very prompt in communications and seems reasonable, I just wondered what the usual thing to do was

It is susual practice to send the item back then the refund will be issued.
