Its a shop thats not too far from me, they have a baby item set up as 'buy it now' £28.99 and listed as 99 in stock.

I emailed and said if I go and pick it up would they accept £26?

I wont bid on it or involve ebay , just pop to the shop... that way they save ebay fees and listing fees etc...

What I mean is do you think the shop price will be a bit cheaper than the ebay price?

I doubt it, they will already have paid listing fees. They will knock the postage off.

Your best bet would be to go to the shop in person without emailing them first and seeing what the score is then.

I agree with island, I would pop along to the shop (or have a look & see if they a website outside of Ebay) & check out the prices.

No harm in asking!

just remember offering to buy item outside eBay is a rule violation and eBay can ban you for it!
Does the item include postage? In which case you'd still be safer as a buyer, buying via eBay butboffering to pay cash to save them paypal fees.
I am
Sure eBay track emails as several people have been done recently.
