... should I tell them?

I've only sold a couple of things so am clueless about tactics etc.

It's a dining table and chairs and is only a year old so wanted to set a reserve price as didn't want to lose too much money (stupid purchase).

if the reserve price is more than I'm prepared to pay then I wouldn't waste my time bidding, or they may want to offer you the reserve price and ask you to sell it to them on a BIN?

So you'd tell them?

The reserve price is the minimum I am prepared to accept. Ideally I'd hope for more (obviously!)

I ask the reserve so I can bid it, rather than biddig £40 at the last minute then finding out the reserve was £45 and then I end up being gutted because i WOULD have paid the reserve but ran pout of time to rebid!

I would ask them what their best offer would be and then take it from there.
