eBay

Sold my 2nd ever item on Ebay and it's given me the hump

I sold a pair of sandals. They were quite nice, but never very comfy and had only been worn a handful of times. I was going to put them in the recycle bin, but thought I'd see what happened on Ebay. Wasn't expecting much money for them.

Anyway they went for 99p, plus postage, which as I'd made a little bit on the postage I was quite happy with. Buyer took over a week to pay and then posted positive feedback, but with a comment about them not being in good condition. Now they had been worn, which was in the details, but the soles showed no wear and the tops of the shoes were immaculate. Any marks could only be on the foot-bed, the bit you can't see when you wear them.

She got a £45 (price was till on the box) pair of shoes for 99p plus postage fgs. I know it doesn't matter in the scheme of things, but I'm irrationally annoyed. Does this happen a lot and why would she?

This is really why I dont bother with Ebay, I either offer stuff for free on here or take it to the charity shop.

Ebay seems to be swamped with whinging arseholes with unrealistic ideas of what 'worn goods' actually means.

Does this happen a lot? Yes.
The lower the price paid the more the buyer whinges.

This happened to me today from the buyers side Got a lovely little top for ds but now it has arrived it is so bobbly and worn that he just can't wear it. Has really put me off, along with a non paying bidder for a big item this week, I have had it with ebay.

Yes it happens. I don't like the seller ratings for just that reason.

I only charge exactly what the packaging and postage cost for most of my items not a penny more, nothing for time taken or petrol to the post office and still some people give me low ratings for reasonableness of p & p costs. Really annoys me too.

Yes it is irrational but I think it is to do with not being able to put anybody straight about the truth!

I have never really had a problem with e-bay either as a buyer or a seller although I do agree with 6lostms the ones who cause you the most problems do seem to be the ones who have got the biggest bargains. My major gripe was sellinga used Radley handbag. The buyer left me neutral feedback with the comment 'lovely handbag well packaged'??!!! So why leave neutral feedback then?? V annoyed.

i too only charge for cost of the postage (and packing if i dont have any jiffy bags to reuse) and only have 4 stars for postage and packing!!

When I offered free postage my stars went down. When I charged more p&p than I'd ever done before my stars went up
buyers = own worst enemy
