Recently a handful of items and they all got posted the same day. I've got one person saying they never received the item and would like a refund. I don't mind giving a refund but I checked the feedback they have left for others, and on every page (of the 4 pages) there are bits of feedback saying never recieved item, got refund etc. Also a couple that they did receive but it says took a long time to arrive.

The feedback wording is very young sounding, sometimes swear words used (but in positive way) and short text speak. Just worried that this person MAY be getting refunds for things they HAVE received iyswim.

WWYD? Give a refund anyway? I was all set to do that until I saw just how unlucky this person is with not receiving items.

TIA

How long has it been since you posted?

I would reply saying yes you would be prepared to offer a refund but not until 15 working days have passed since you posted it as Royal Mail will not allow you to put in a claim until 15 working days have passed.

I would also be sly & say they do seem to be rather unlucky when it comes to items going missing in the post

I would also suggest sending everything recorded delivery from now on hun - only an extra £0.70p & it covers your bum that way!!

Did you get a proof of postage from the post office, this is available free but you have to ask for it. If you have one of these after 15 days you can put in a claim for a lost item, you are covered up to the value of £25. I would also not automatically give the refund after 15 days, I would wait to see what the Post Office said, this could take a long time and if they are pulling a fast one the time may put them off a bit. You could also email a copy of the proof of postage to the buyer and if it gets nasty from ebay you have your proof. Perhaps too late for this time but worth bearing in mind for next.

it does sound like this is a habit of theirs. I'd be tempted to reply to them along the following lines. - Dear.... I am sorry to hear that your item has not yet arrived. Could you please ask your neighbours if they have taken your parcel in error and also contact your local sorting office to check if they are holding it for you. In the meantime I shall also be checking with your local sorting office, (as I have the appropriate tracking numbers etc), especially after noticing that a lot of your items appear to get 'lost in the post.' If your item does not arrive within the alloted time as stated by the Royal Mail I shall be putting in a claim. You will receive a form from Royal Mail to sign, stating that you haven't received it. This is to prevent fraudulent claims. Hopefully your item will arrive soon, but I really do think an official enquiry needs to be made on your behalf as to why so many of your items go missing.

Thanks everyone. I'm pretty new to selling on ebay so I suppose I'm learning a hard lesson here, to send recorded from now on! I did however get proof of purchase however I've bloomin misplaced the receipts (I had my baby a week before the items were posted and you can just imagine the clutter!)

I think the 15 days has passed now so will tell them I am looking into it with the Royal Mail and yes, will get them to check with neighbours etc. and make a comment about their bad luck with receiving things .

It really annoys me as I'm pretty sure they are trying it on, they knew I'd just had a baby and also, my stupid stupid mistake but I undercharged them for postage so only actually made about £1 something in the end Oh well, not going to stress about it, just wish I'd given the thing away now instead of selling it (big teddy!)

Thanks for the advice
