but can someone recommend a reliable & free snipe tool please?

I had one saved in favourites on my old laptop but then it died and I can't remember what it was. I've since tried Goofbay but it is useless. Any tips?

Thanks everyone. Tortoise I tried to register with Lotsnipe and wouldn't you know it, that's the one I used to use. Hurrah!

What is a snipe tool?

Forget my last question, I just looked it up. That is so naughty, I had no idea you could do that. No wonder I get outbid. What happens if two bidders are using one?

It places a bid on e-bay for you a few seconds before the end of the auction, not giving anyone else a chance to out-bid you. They are quite contraversial, but I use them and have no moral issues with doing so.....it stops me upping my bid and paying more than I'm really prepared to. There are plenty of different ones as you can see, and mostly they're free.

it's not naughty! highest bidder wins, as usual
if you get outbid at the last minute you are not bidding your maximum
bid once, bid your maximum, bid as late as you can

oh to answer the OP, vrane is good

free for one snipe at a time

if 2 people use a snipe tool the highest bidder wins, just like any other auction! it isn't cheating, it just means you don't have to sit there at the end refreshing and waiting for the last seconds of the auction to come

I wouldn't feel too bad, I don't use a snipe tool but I do bid in the last ten seconds anyway, I don't see the point in bidding til the end of the auction, it just bumps the price up and often starts a completely unnecessary bidding war! I almost always win.
