I have a paypal account which I have used to buy stuff on Ebay. We are having a long overdue clear out at home and I want to try selling some of our stuff on Ebay. Do I need to do anything to be able to receive payments via Paypal? Is there anything I should know or be aware of? Thanks

Hi, I have been selling bits and bobs on ebay for a while now. Just sold ds cot and got £50 for it. To recieve money from other ebayers and not have to spend it from paypal you have to have your paypal account verified using your bank account. Basically you enter your bank details and they deposit a small amount of money into your bank account. You then recieve an email confirming how much the amount was and off you go. I havent done that, I use money in paypal on ebay to buy bigger size clothes for my son.
Kitted him out for a family holiday already and we dont go until July!

Just follow the instructions given for opening pay pal account. Takes a week or so to do all the things to become a verified seller - ie they send you a letter with a code on it to check your postal address, and ring you up to check the phone number etc.
I leave all the money in paypal and whenever its enough to transfer to bank account without paying fees, I do so into an account that I keep just for treats that the ebay sales pay for.
When selling stuff I put everything on at 99p regardless of what 'value' I think it may have as lower starts mean more interested people and that means more bids.
Some things go for 99p, others go for a lot more than I expect, so I don't look at individual prices but at the total in my paypal/treats account. So far from just selling our bits and bobs over 3 years has paid for a new computer, last years holiday cottage rental and I am just 50 short of this years holiday cottage.
