eBay

package sent day before strikes, still not arrived - what to do?

i won a set of slimming world books on ebay and paid for 1st class postage. The seller says they were posted 2 weeks ago tomorrow. I know there were stirkes but surely it should be here by now, especially as it was 1st class?? I have emailed her but no reply as yet?

If it has got lost what do i do? Or what can i expect her to do?

I have brought and sold over Ebay alot over the strike period and haven't had any trouble with items being delivered. I guess it does depend what area your in though.

Did she get proof of posting, would have been sensible of her considering the strike action!

If she doesn't reply to your e-mails I would report her.

I have a few books yet to arrive from a book swap site that I go on. They seem to be coming in reverse order, so books that were posted just before the strike haven't come yet, but books that were posted on the last day of the strike have. I think they are doing the backlog in reverse order.

There is a time limit for opening a dispute with Paypal isn't there? I'm sure there will be more experienced ebayers around to tell you what it is.

I'm still waiting for 2 parcels to be delivered -they would have been posted around the time of the strike too. I've not contacted the sellers yet though

I too have been buying and selling throughout the strike period. So far I am waiting on 3 parcels that I have bought and I only know of 1 which I have sold that hasn't reached its destination!

The buyer of my item emailed me on Saturday to say it still hadn't been received. I explained that the item was posted 2 weeks ago and to give it a few more days to see if it turns up.

If it doesn't, looks like I may have to offer a refund as I stupidly didn't get proof of postage or send recorded . Having said that, I have sold a lot of items over the past couple of years and never had a problem before. From now on though I will always obtain proof of postage!

I have heard on here in another thread on thsi subject that there are a lot of parcels sat in warehouses still waiting to be sorted, they have been concentrating on small mail up to now

thanks that has made me feel a little better, i had heard of all the packages posted first being at the bottom of the pile so actually getting there slower than ones which were posted later if that makes sense am just crossing fingers that is the case with my books

I'm still getting messages saying items not received yet. I'm still waiting to receive items.
Patience is all that's needed.

I have been getting horrible messages from one buyer who keeps telling me "I'D BETTER DO SOMETHING OR ELSE!!!!"

  • can't quite figure out exactly what she wants me to do....go to her sorting office and dive in the parcel mountain maybe

Do something or else? Ebay would be so much better if you had to get certified as ok by a mental health professional before you were allowed to sign up.

lol ninedragons

that'd be me out according to dh then

yep patience really is a virtue and knowing others are waiting makes me feel so much better, still no email back from seller though, maybe she is away, or drowning under nasty emails (which mine wasn't by the way!)

I had a parcel coming from the OU, posted on the 5th, got it yesterday.

I'm waiting on an ebay parcel, too, but am keeping my cool - presumably ebay will change the rules re: complaining about items not received, under the circumstances?

same here, I got a cheque on Saturday that was posted on 10 October and I have had a few emails from buyers about delayed parcels.
I am replying to emails immediately to reassure buyers as much as possible. I think if your seller is not doing this, yet is still around on ebay, it is not very acceptable.

I think local backlogs from the wildcat strikes are still delaying some things getting through. I heard that Liverpool had no post for two whole weeks, so presumably anything going via Liverpool would have been held up. A few parcels I posted around 4 - 10 october have still not got to their destinations. But quite a lot have.

So far, I have had no actually nasty emails but if someone is OTT unreasonable, you can add this to their feedback (though I'd wait until just before the end of the 90 day feedback period, so the buyer hasn't time to leave you negative feedback in return).

I did this once, as it really felt I was being bullied and I dreaded opening my email inbox.
