sorry its a bit long, on the 20th sept i bought a bebe confort hood for my sister whos pram hood on her windoo carrycot is broken, winning bid £28.

Paypal would only let me pay by stupid echeque as i have recently moved home(change of address) and i got maried last year but because i had changed address on my paypal account its counted as "unusual patterns of behaviour" therfor my account would only let me pay this way, seller was fine as it said payment would be clear by 1st Oct, it did clear and i heard nothing from seller for 5days so i emailed asking if she had sent it, i got an email saying she hadn't been in touch as her computer was broken but that she had sent it (fair enough).

As the strikes were just past i expected it a bit late but as i have been receiving mail and parcels for the last week some from ebay i thought i would email back saying still not recieved, i got no reply then 2 days ago i emailed again saying if she supplied the receipt number i could get my dad to trace it as he worked in the sorting office still no reply, so i have emailed her personally to say if she could acknowledge the emails still nothing,

this morning i tried to open a dispute as item not received but i have been stupid because after the payment went through i tried to change my paypal account to my new married name but it was a bit of a hassle to change needing my marriage cert etc so i thought it would be easier to close the acount and open a new one, and now i can't open a dispute as that paypal account no longer exists and to top it off the new paypal account will still only let me pay by echeque 9-10days to clear, i should of just kept the blinking paypal account i had as well as my maiden name on the damn thing, anyone any suggestions please?

Can you not open a dispute on ebay? I think Paypal only protects you if you pay through them, so if you paid by cheque there's nothing they can do anyway.

its ok she has only sold a few items, one feedback was neutral,

No i paid through paypal it was echeque, still through paypal and still comes from my bank account to theirs

i tried to open a dispute then realised that, my paypal account no longer exists as i closed it just over a week ago and this transaction was on it

Open a dispute on ebay then, it's the only avenue left but much better than nothing. If the person is serious they won't want banning from ebay or being slated on the forum so it does have some power.

you could try calling paypal they are quite helpful on the phone, if you have the transaction id, you can get this from the email you got from paypal when you paid, explain what has happened they will be able to advise you. One tip when you ring paypal press option one then option 4 you get through to a real person it might be a bit slow though. Good luck

i still have heard nothing from seller after numerous emails, maybe her computer has broken again, but still i would of expected the parcel or she could use a friends comp to email me to let me know whats happening just curtesy afterall, so i have opened a dispute through ebay and stated payment was through another method, because if i say through echeque it takes me to the paypal site but of course i don't have that paypal account anymore and to top it off i trawled through all my emails to see if i had the original paypal receipt of payment and i have somehow deleted it as i was hoping i could get the transaction id and call paypal, god i'm so stupid at times
