.......Have reported a "Nazi Holocaust" headscarf twice to ebay & they have STILL not removed??!!!..........

Came across it when looking for a headscarf the other week and would apppear that it's a regular item in stock for this particular power seller. Have now reported it twice as a "potentially offensive" item (or something similar) through the usual ebay links but they're still for sale .
Surely this should not be allowed? Or maybe I'm just being unreasonable...?

i dread to think what a "nazi holocaust headscarf" would look like. but i dread even more the sort of person that would buy it.

willywonka · 07/05/2007 12:46

It just has this horrible fascist print thing all over and, as you say, I hate to imagine what sort of person would consider it OK to buy/wear.

Would welcome any suggestions of what else I can do to try and take this further. FWIW I'm not Jewish, I simply find this sort of far right iconography offensive in the extreme.

do you have the item number? some of us could also make a complaint and pressurise ebay into removing it

Report
kittypants · 07/05/2007 12:50

so you can sell offensive items but no cloth nappies-ebay gets better every day!

Report
willywonka · 07/05/2007 12:51

The item number for a scarft whose auction closes in three days is 300108094316. There is another before then but as it can take up to 48 hours for ebay to sort, is probably best to try for an item that's still active otherwise they may just ignore it.

Thanks to anyone whose willing to give it a go.

Agree totally kittypants, and seem to remember making a similar comment when I reported this the first time round...

Examples of items that will generally be removed:

Items that bear symbols of the Nazis, the SS, or the KKK, including authentic German WWII memorabilia that bears such marks, whether visible or covered.

i have reported the item and quoted the enay policy for offensive items in my email.

hopefully it will be of some assistance to them

I've seen that too mamazon which is why I can't understand that the scarves are still available for sale. Hopefully a bit of pressure from enough MNers might make them force the seller to stop selling them. It does seem to be one rogue item amongst their stock rather than one of many, thank Heavens.

I've reported this to ebay as well. Vile.

Good grief! I'm almost certain that this will be removed. That sort of iconography is actually illegal in Germany, so I'm surprised the German domain hasn't picked up on this before now.

Rantum - at the foot of the page, click on the "Report this item" and go from there. It qualifies as a banned item. Thanks for helping.

Reported it too

eBay don't make it easy to contact them do they?

Report
bran · 07/05/2007 14:25

I agree the description is objectionable and posting should be removed because of that, but the headscarf doesn't actually have any nazi iconography on it. That isn't a swastika and while I don't particularly like it, the skull and crossbones is a fairly common sight and not really offensive.

Actually bran, this cross (a form of the Maltese cross) was used as one of the Nazi symbols and was also outlawed along with the Swastika in the postwar period. It was subsequently re-introduced, but is still often used by neo-Nazis to evoke the period of Nazi rule. See here...
