How/at what stage do I "wait" for an invoice for combined postage?

There was no obvious point at which to do this, although the ebay shop had a note in its information to do it. I couldn't stop part way through the transaction - well, I couldn't see where I should stop and I ended up completing the transaction. The seller has now said that combined postage means the total of all the postage amounts, so there is nothing to refund on the postage, but has offered a full refund which I have accepted as the postage amount was daft for what I was ordering.

Thanks for any help - I could do with knowing for future combined postage purchases...

That's odd, maybe the seller hasn't done/doesn't understand what combined postage means. When I've won an auction, I usually message the seller and say shall I wait for your revised invoice which they send me. Not bought something the way you have though, hopefully someone else will come along and advise.
Shame you missed out on your purchase and the seller missed out on a sale.

I've done one this week- emailed the buyer to say pay as usual and I'll refund the difference once I get to the PO (the weight on my scales was showing it was on the border of letter/parcel territory). Refunded her the difference the next day when I went there and got the price. Not sure how it works for ebay shops though- think I've been refused in the past when buying from them.

Normally, to get offers you need to "add items to basket" not press "buy it now" on every item. Once they are all in your basket you press checkout, which then allows you to pay for all items at once. The postage deductions are visible on the checkout page.
