Is this odd?

I'm not a regular water, so but sure if this sounds ok?
I've just sold my old double buggy on a buy it now, paid for by PayPal. Item was listed as collection only but has been purchased by someone with an address more than a hundred miles away. I emailed them to arrange collection and a day later they have replied that they are away until first week in November and they'll contact me then to arrange collection!
Seems an odd way to buy/sell to me! Is there anything I need to be wary of here?
Thanks in advance.

I don't know about scams but I am in Somerset and had a winning bid on our buggy from a woman who was living in Luxembourg and sent her DP to pick it up - he drove here from Coventry! It wasn't even a fancy buggy or a particularly good deal. Sometimes I guess people just don't mind travelling to get something they specifically want?! Good luck with it.

OP never accept PayPal for collection only items! You're leaving yourself wide open to being ripped off.
Unfortunately you have to offer it as an option with an eBay listing, so all you can do is make it clear in the item description "cash upon collection only", and if they pay by PayPal refund it and refer them back to the listing.

Refund the PayPal payment and tell the buyer cash only. If you don't want to wait until November, then tell them unless they can collect within X days you will have to cancel the sale and realist.

Marble a signed receipt doesn't make a Dot of difference, to be covered by seller protection you must prove delivery with an online tracking system. A signature from the buyer when they pick it up won't work.

Thanks for the replies. The buggy isn't expensive but I think it was realistically priced. I'm happy to hang in to it and I'll make sure she signs a collection note.
Thanks again!

Cross post Lottie, thank you. Yes I did wonder about the PayPal payment. It was listed as cash on collection. I'll email and see what she says.

Disputes can't be opened for not as described for collection items. If they file non receipt and you can't prove via online tracking its collected they get a refund.

Definitely definitely don't let them pay by PayPal for collection only. My friend got stung this way months after the transaction. CCTV from a neighbour (WTF keeping it for months but hey ho) swung it for her. But my goodness she battled for weeks. Even had emails saying thanks it's great!!
