Would you leave negative feedback?

Just won an auction tonight for 3x kids t shirts, designer brand. There was no other bids so I won them at starting price £5+postage).

About 30 mins after winning I got a notification from ebay that the sale was cancelled. No email or communication from the seller to explain why, so I dropped them a note to ask why.

Ive been given a line about selling the item for someone else and they didnt tell them that theyv actually sold it to someone else now... May very well be true but I cant help wondering if there was a few more bids and the price was higher if it would have been the same story? Seller says there was "nothing more they could do".

I fired a quick message back just saying that was fine but I was disappointed that as a responsible seller they had 1. Allowed the sale to happen and 2. Didnt have the courtesy to even drop a note to explain why, and that I would leave feedback to say so.

They are now saying they will also leave feedback for me too?

The seller does have 100% and I have never left a negative before so not sure if It would be fair.... Would you?

Sellers can't leave negative feedback for buyers.

They are breaking the rules really. You could contact eBay for advice.

Yes I would. "Won the items at a bargain price. Seller then cancelled the sale with no communication".

Lol now had a message telling me shel leave me negative feedback too because "at the end of the day nobody wants bad feedback". I replied a simple note to say thats fine but the feedback system isnt tit for tat to be used in that way.

She has given me a simple reply... "Oh get a life"

Ha ha maybe I do not to get a life but its a bit frustrating when you have won something you had watched for and then have it cancelled just like that! If she had dropped me a wee note to say sorry and explain I would have understood!

Thanks for telling about sellers being unable to leave bad, that does help in scenarios like this.

If the seller us communicating with you on eBay (rather than email etc) then eBay will be able to read the messages.

Go on eBay live chat tomorrow and see what they say.

It's against the rules to threaten people with negative feedback. http://sellercentre.ebay.co.uk/feedback-extortion-policy

Sellers can only leave positive feedback. If the leave a negative comment under a positive feedback selection, report it to eBay to have of removed.

I'd definitely leave negative feedback, without a doubt. Keep it factual and avoid insults, so she can't appeal for it to be removed.

Personally I wouldn't bother but if they're actually telling you to get a life then stuff 'em! Sellers can only leave positive feedback, and if the text isn't complimentary, eBay will remove it on your request.

You could report them to ebay and yes they cannot leave neg fb for a buyer. I would consider their behaviour rude.
