So I made a mistake when listing a prom dress - I put size 12 in teh title, although everything else said 10 including the photos. Another eBayer pointed it out but it was too late to change the listing as close to the auction end.

I emailed the winner immediately with the issue - heard nothing.
Sent the parcel
Then got an email back asking for refund as dress was too small. I apologised profusely and offered full refund and asked for item back ASAp as I wanted to relist because it was peak prom dress buying time

On 11 june she asked for my address which I gave
20 June I asked her again to send the item asap so I can relist it.
Heard nothing since.
Would it be reasonable to say - unless i receive the item by XX date I cannot offer a refund? I can't wait all summer!

I think I would check the rules on how long you have to wait for a return - you might be best to contact ebay CS. Did they open an ebay return case or just contact you via messages?

I'm not sure that even if you put "return within x days" that it actually makes any difference. However as you did make a mistake you would be expected to pay for the return postage plus the cost of item.

You cannot be expected to wait indefinitely though, seems very unfair. I would phone ebay, it's quicker and they offer a call back service.

You can't demand anything but I would send a nice email that said "I'm ready for when you sent it, but if you don't reply within 6 months I won't be obliged to offer a refund."

I think Paypal claim limit is 6 months, and until then you have to forget about it and see what happens.

I have found that a lot of people who ask for a return don't bother to send the item back anyway.
