Sending a large bulky item - how?

We're thinking of selling some old camping stuff, with collection only. But is there any way of sending via a courier for people further afield? Weight is about 16kg which is just over the my Hermes limits sadly.

Anyone have any experience of who would collect and deliver? It needs to be tracked and insured.

Thanks

Try pacelmonkey & parcel2go for quotes. How large will it measure, what do you want to insure it for?
My guess is that Parcelforce will be your best quote, insurance can be pricey, though.

The other thing that happens with heavy bulky stuff, if it's very desirable, people will get in touch asking if they can use their own courier, because they have a special business price rate with couriers, that sharply undercuts what price you can get. It's up to you whether to take that risk. There is a small chance they could be out to con you by using own courier.

never let a buyer arrange their own courier unless they pay bank transfer or cash.

Ok thanks. Parcel force estimate it will be about £28 which is quite steep. Maybe I didn't mean insurance, I just wanted to cover loss or damage in transit I suppose.

Thanks for the tip though about not letting them arrange a courier, I wouldn't have thought of that.

£28 isn't as much as many charge. You do need it fully insured for the value of the item in case it is damaged in transit though. Otherwise you will be out of pocket if it is broken when it arrives.

£28 is about what I would expect.
I only insure for part of the value, the amount after Ebay fees & postage, both of which I would hope to reclaim. This value may be in the default insurance courier provides, anyway.
