I have some things to sell on eBay but I don't know how to calculate postage. Can anyone share any tips or do I have to go to the post office and get everything weighed up before listing?

if under 1kg I charge £3 and send Hermes.

Do you have scales?

Weigh it and measure in the packaging. The PO and couriers have size limits as well as weight limits. In info is on their websites, or you can get a leaflet at the PO or courier drop off points.

Royal Mail has a postage calculator on its website. You just need to know the weight of your item and you can get a price for multiple postage methods.

weigh item, look on shipping website, get a quite, add for packing and a little to cover ebay postage fees so youre not out of pocket, so a myhermes under 1kg for 3.99 is fine from experiance

1kg is £2.98 with Hermes - and they collect too.

I use Royal Mail www.royalmail.com/sites/default/files/Royal-Mail-UK-and-international-parcel-and-letter-prices-30-March-2015.pdf

My Hermes deliveries have been somewhat hit and miss. Thrown over the gate in pouring rain and not found for 3 days, dumped in the recycling box, left in the blue bin, left in the garden waste bin. The regular guy is fine and knows I am always in but still dumps in in one of the bins and runs away, then has to come back when I open the door. They don't have a great reputation, neither does Yodel.

For larger items I can see why people use them, but I would rather sell as collection only or offer delivery for petrol costs, locally.
