eBay

Buying an expensive item

I've used ebay a lot but the most I have spent on one item is £35.
I found a furniture item for £200, it's just what I want and similar in the high street is double that price. Should I go for it? Just a bit worried about spending that amount although I will be using PayPal.

Paypal will give you a lot of protection. Electronics or gems/precious metals are considered dodgy to buy on Ebay but furniture should be good. Would be better if you could collect in person to be sure you're satisfied with condition (& pay in cash probably).

Go for it! I got all my lovely vintage furniture from ebay, had no problems at all :-)

I would check the seller's reviews and go on that whether they are reliable or not, I got my mum a lovely coffee table for £226 saved easily over £100 and it was perfect.

Thanks all. The sellers feedback is all good, although mostly for buying. Unfortunately I can't pick it up due to the distance involved but I'm going to buy it with PayPal.

Will let you know!

Just make sure it is insured for delivery there are some quite careless firms out there as long as you insure you should be fine.

the insurance for delivery is to protect the seller - not the buyer. Just consider how much it would cost you to return, fully tracked, if you do want a refund. That could be pricey.
