eBay

Any experience with royal Mail and missing items

Hi I'm new to eBay and went on a mini spree buying 9 gruffalo items from 8 sellers. I have received 2. 11 days since apparent postage.

I've just had a reply from one seller with a tracking reference which says they attempted delivery on 12th and left a card. Well I was in most of the day and no card.

Any idea how I go about this? As the other items weren't recorded delivery and the other sellers all just said they posted them. If they don't turn up will eBay just think I'm a chancer trying to get money back and items? I'm genuinely gutted to not receive them. And any advice on dealing with Royal Mail? Their website keeps sending me in circles.

It's making me wonder also if my other missing ones could be sat at the depot. Can you go in and check? Or will they say no without a card?

Thank you.

You're still waiting on 7 items? Confused

I would double check your delivery address on eBay and Paypal first.

I recently queried an address because the postcode and address didn't match. Buyer said it was definitely such and such Street so I used the postcode on Royal Mail's website. A month later she was chasing the item. I emailed the postage confirmation and she left me negative feedback. Confused

Watching with interest from the other side. I posted something last week and the buyer has opened a case against me saying I didn't t send it and wanting a refund. It was my first attempt at ebaying for ages and I realise I was a bit naive. I'm going to send everything recorded or signed for in future to protect myself.

My address is all fine. I think its Royal Mail that are the issue. The other items should've been delivered around the same time as the one that they apparently tried to deliver and left a card so Im hoping they might all be there.

One seller told me the item was posted and has messaged me now saying his child ripped the item as he was trying to package it and sent a photo. I've queried him as he said he posted it over a week ago so why would he say this now?

Don't think I'm going to use ebay again. Thought it was too easy.

You don't have to worry about it. If items don't arrive you can open a case with ebay to get your money back. It's up to the sender of the package to chase royal mail.

Auburnsparkle · 20/02/2015 09:28

Why don't you contact your sorting office. If they don't arrive you will get a refund.

And as a seller you should always send with online proof of delivery

I've had several problems with eBay and royal mail, royal mail will advise you to open a case with the seller who should refund whilst they open a case with royal mail themselves. This is what they advised me anyway.

On that particular occasion, they'd also left a "sorry you are not in card", but when I went to pick it up, they insisted they didn't have it. After further investigation, a signature for a "B Smith" appeared but it was also left in my garage (there are no garages anywhere near mine or any neighbours properties) but it still had a signature and was still taken back to the local post office........ In the end, royal mail agreed that this story was so ludicrous they just sent me a cheque directly. But they did spend 2 weeks trying to convince me it was all true first!

Could there be a secret Gruffalo collector working in your sorting office ? it seems very funny that 6/7 would go missing all to the same address, most Postmen are very honest people but you always find a bad apple every now and then, mores the pity.

wobblebobblehat · 20/02/2015 18:10

Check with the sorting office. If you have no luck with them then open cases with eBay.

I made a claim through Royal Mail for the item that wasn't delivered. I had paid for the postage online which helped. They paid me back with stamps!

ragged · 20/02/2015 18:13

Seller with child who ripped item, how did he tell you he sent the item. Did he personally send you a message saying "Hi I sent it out" or did you get an automatic "Item has been dispatched" email?

Dispatched email comes from Ebay when somebody buys postage & has nothing whatsoever to do with when the item went to post office.

Would be much easier to mess you about in other ways if seller wanted to mess you about.

tbh, I'd slap you on my blocked buyer list anyway, you just don't have reliable postage service wherever you are.

ragged · 20/02/2015 18:13

ps: you will win any case you open unless the item was delivered recorded, you'll get your money or the item for sure.

Betsy1925 · 20/02/2015 19:22

Thank you. The depot had 2 items and 2 more have turned up today. But I never got a failed delivery card. So im just waiting for 2 now. The bag was a despatched message from ebay I didn't know that was generic. He then messaged me through ebay with a picture of damage. I've requested a refund. I've never had issues with my post ever. I'm in a town. I'm just assuming it's 2nd class post is taking ages now.

Thanks for all your help and advice bhope gully sorted now.

The items which haven't arrived - I would open not received cases for those by now. Think you have waited long enough really.

Betsy1925 · 21/02/2015 07:53

Thank you I'll do that today. I really want them. Not bothered about te money at all. Hopefully they're on there way.
