So buyer sent a message asking 'hi Hun Hmm can I buy now and pay next week' then promptly bought the item.
Now not responding to messages. So pissed off. What can I do?

Marshpillow · 04/02/2015 13:02

Don't send the item. I've never sold anything but I personally wouldn't expect anything I buy to be dispatched until I'd paid.

SparklyReindeerShit · 04/02/2015 13:04

I don't want to wait a week to be paid tho! How long do I have to wait to open a non payment and relist? Bloody hate this. Why buy now when they know they can't pay?! Angry

OP posts:
seaoflove · 04/02/2015 13:04

I don't think the buyer is expecting the OP to send the item without payment, just sit around twiddling their thumbs until they cough up.

They're taking the piss, OP. I've had this once before and decided to wait, even though I wasn't happy about it, and they did pay. Other option is to cancel the sale.

SoonToBeSix · 04/02/2015 13:07

I think up to seven days to pay is perfectly reasonable tbh.

Viviennemary · 04/02/2015 13:12

You could cancel the sale and say the item is no longer available. But I don't think you can insist on immediate payment under the current rules But some buy it now items have immediate payment as necessary to complete the sale. But for ordinary auction items you have to wait. Check their feedback.

SparklyReindeerShit · 04/02/2015 13:15

Her feedback is not great. I'm worried about it now as I really can't be doing with the hassle. She's saying end of week, maybe Monday.

OP posts:
SparklyReindeerShit · 04/02/2015 13:16

Up to seven days? Really?!

OP posts:
Auburnsparkle · 04/02/2015 13:21

open an unpaid item case after 48 hours, close in 4 days and only then can you relist. And add to blocked bidder list too. Do not send a cancellation request because she will more than likely refuse it and then neg you too.

GregorSamsa · 04/02/2015 13:23

I"ve just had this as well, except the buyer bought the item and then messaged me a day later to say, "Hi, will pay on 11th Feb, cheers".

It's not okay, and ebay don't condone it - you can file an unpaid item strike after 48 hours, which is what I've done. They then have four days to pay , if they don't you can close the case and get a refund of fees.

GraysAnalogy · 04/02/2015 13:23

Seven days is far too long. If you can't pay within 48 hours you shouldn't buy.

glammanana · 04/02/2015 15:15

Don't e-bay send a reminder automatically after 48hrs anyway ? I wouldn't wait 7 days for payment unless with prior notice and agreement even then I would not be very pleased,I can't remember the last time I went into Morrisons and said I'll have my trolley order and pay in 7 days I think they would show me the door.
Just be careful this buyer does not claim SNAD or INR if you do proceed make sure you send tracked just to cover yourself.

SparklyReindeerShit · 04/02/2015 15:33

Tempted just to cancel as her feedback mentions problems the more I look.

OP posts:
Auburnsparkle · 04/02/2015 15:34

no don't send a cancellation as she will neg you - you need to file an unpaid case to prevent her leaving any feedback at all. Plus it gives her a strike.

arlagirl · 04/02/2015 15:38

I wouldn't sell to her on principle as she called you hun

momofmonster · 04/02/2015 15:46

I have done simialr, though not by a week, maybe 2/3 days and i've waited for a reply first before buying now. On the same principle i have let others do this, however they have waited for a response before buying. You can put an option on whereby the buyer has to pay straight away when selecting buy now if this is an issue though.

nickstmoritz · 04/02/2015 18:27

I had this before Xmas - can I pay later? so I said ok ...xmas cheer and all that...then... can you send so it gets there for Xmas I will pay you on X day and as it was a soft toy I sent it.....never heard from them again, never got paid so I had sent the toy and paid the P&P. To be honest I just thought I hope you really needed this toy for Xmas and if you really couldn't afford the £6 bargain for a pretty expensive toy then just have it. However it was rude and if I had loads of money myself I wouldn't have been selling stuff on ebay!!!
I had a message recently asking me to wait til they could afford to pay for a dress so I have removed it from sale and am waiting...wonder if they will pay when they said??? I am way too soft.

GregorSamsa · 04/02/2015 21:00

Tbh I would tend to work on the basis that people who ask for this are more likely than average to be annoying timewasters, so I would tend to do whatever will get rid of them fastest. Which in general is filing an Unpaid Item Claim, closing the case asap, and then blocking them.

SparklyReindeerShit · 04/02/2015 21:31

Wouldn't mind if she'd asked first and actually waited for a reply!
Now she's messaged telling me to send a cancel transaction request. No explanation, apology, nothing.
So, am I right in thinking I can do a non payment after 2 days and that's the best thing right?

OP posts:
Auburnsparkle · 04/02/2015 21:39

yes it is - stops her being able to neg, guarantees you get your fees back and issues her with a strike. And add her to your blocked bidder list too.

SparklyReindeerShit · 05/02/2015 00:02

Thank you.

Little update

Buyer is now sending me 'fuck you' messages! ShockGrin
Has left me negative fb too.

Why do I bloody bother?!

OP posts:
Ellisisland · 05/02/2015 13:52

Contact eBay and get them to remove the feedback. I had a similar situation and got the feedback cancelled and the buyer blocked. There are some right nut cases out there ! Grin

have you opened the unpaid case yet? And do report her abusive messages to eBay too. Once the unpaid case is closed a neg is automatically removed, but you can go to live chat and ask them to remove it now if you wish. Oh and don't reply to any of her messages. And you have blocked her haven't you?

SparklyReindeerShit · 05/02/2015 14:31

Yes I've blocked her that's why she's sending me the fuck you! Grin Have to laugh don't you?!

OP posts:
Auburnsparkle · 05/02/2015 14:38

added her to your blocked bidder list? How does she know, has she tried bidding on your other items? You can't block someone from messaging you.
